Ohio Advocacy Heartbeat is a grassroots online news and information source about advocacy in Ohio. It is a space was created to share events, advocacy information, resources and more. We have existed for three years now.

Ohio Advocacy Heartbeat has two facebook groups . We have one for sharing events, resources and news related to disability topics in Ohio and on the National level. It is called Disability News Resources and Events Around Ohio.

We also have our advocacy group Ohio Advocacy Heartbeat and Facebook page.

We have this website which has our blog, a calendar of events on our website of events around Ohio and two pages of links. One of the pages has links to disability related Facebook groups and the other page has links to advocacy groups and organizations that are some how connected to disability in Ohio.

Our whole project is run by a team of four people. They work very hard to go thru content and share it out. Often a lot of the content put out by advocacy groups is inaccessible so it takes a lot of hours to go thru and get event details to add to our website calendar, our Facebook page and groups.

For last three years our small but mighty team has done so much to get information out there. During winter months we compiled lists of warming centers and during extreme heat we compiled lists of cooling centers. During the SNAP crisis we gathered lists of food pantries and helped share resources.

We have weekly posts on what’s going in Ohio. We also share policy updates and public comment threads and much more!

To continued to do this great work we need to build our team.

We are grateful for all of the content and blogs that our guest writers have submitted for our blog. We hope that more people will submit blogs.

At the end of this post I will leave information about blog guidelines for anyone who would like to write a blog about disability related things.

To keep this going we need to find some people can help out with this project .

We are looking for 2-2 volunteers who can give one hour a week to help us add events to our Google Calendar and help us edit some blogs that submitted. If you have interest at all please email audacity2speak@aol.com

• Blogs must be 500 words or less.
• The writer must reside in Ohio.
• We ask that content doesn’t bash or disrespect any advocacy groups or organizations in our state. This is place we try to keep peace and respect for everyone.
• We also ask that people do not promote hate or hate speech in there blogs.
